Weather and Drought Impacts in the Republican River Basin

Because water is such a vital part of many of our activities, weather variability and drought can cause a wide range of environmental, social, and economic impacts among a broad range of sectors and populations. It’s important to understand and monitor these weather and drought-related impacts so that vulnerable populations can be identified, long-term best management practices implemented, and effective hazard response strategies developed.

There is a good deal of information available to help monitor current drought impacts, as well as the effects of weather on agriculture and water supplies in the Republican River Basin.

The Republican River is completely dry on July 25, 2005.
