Surface Water Forecasts
The National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) and Missouri Basin River Forecast Center (MBRFC) have clickable maps that show observed streamflow conditions, as well as observed and outlook probability for precipitation at river monitoring stations across the country. The website also displays flood warning information, including a list of potential impacts that could be expected to occur locally as river levels rise. The NWS is also working to incorporate low flow drought forecasts into the AHPS system.
The Colorado Division of Water Resources administers water rights and interstate compact agreements throughout the state. To administer these, the Division maintains a network of stream and reservoir monitoring sites which collect and transmit data. The Real Time Archive Data Program allows users to retrieve historic surface water data. The Republican River Basin links are not currently live but check back frequently to see if they are. You can also find Colorado's Decision Support Systems (CDSS) on the webpage; CDSS assists people in making informed decisions regarding historic and future water use.
